FELICITY REVIEWS

I started reading Felicity and could NOT put it down! I read the first 50 pages in one shot and was so immersed in the story, the writing, the rhythm of it all... It's so so good. How beautiful to write with such honesty and style. It's deep and it highlights all the various thoughts, fears, goals, and life adventures that we all go through in our own lives and in our own ways. I really think everyone could greatly benefit from reading it. Well done!!

What a monumental contribution you have made. What courage you have to bare your soul, your rage, your secrets, all beautifully written. The writing reflected your feelings. Brutally hard language contrasted by your lovely deep softness. Thank you for writing this book Maggie. It’s a masterpiece.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! I enjoyed reading about Felicity’s journey through the maze of her life, filled with some pretty tough stuff. You are a wonderful writer, really, and when I read your thoughts in print, I can so relate to so much. There is so much in the book. The coming of age of a young woman in the 1960s in England and beyond, the struggle to “live” with a feeling of having no roots, living with the consequences of the free love, sex and rock and roll modality of the 60s and then embarking on the path of motherhood with all that it entails when one is ready and not so ready to step into the role. And on top of that, dealing with a major life changing event like breaking her neck. You write from the heart and can be brutally honest. So refreshing.

The writing is excellent and thought provoking. Stripped to the essential, which is honesty, brutal honesty, so critical for this type of work. Right to the absolute heart of it.

I just read "Felicity"! The book is bold and well written. I felt I was inside a storm and that’s a compliment!

JOHN RYAN

“Felicity” is juicy and raw and real. I love it.

CAROLINE ROWNTREE

This is a formidable accomplishment. Felicity’s ruminations are enlightening, the novel always well written, probing and deeply investigated by both the protagonist and the author. I am in awe of Barrett’s ability to rip the bandages off wounds while creating the atmospheres of both the inner and outer environment of Felicity’s world.

BRENDA BUFALINO

Hard to describe my emotions as I swallowed the book in 24 hours straight. Powerful and at times too close to home?

DINO BERTINI

It was wonderful to see you on Sunday, and to hear you read. It was incredibly brave especially in light of the book itself and you deserve to feel as though you are flying high at the moment. I am now reading your book - I started this morning before the school run. It flows really well and I am very much looking forward to picking it up again - always a good sign.

The precision of your prose and the honesty of your voice create something very special. It’s a great achievement.

What a beguiling and thoughtful event. People tuned in to the book so easily. The reading was pitch perfect and I can’t wait to read it. It’s a gift to be able to make the personal universal.
